The Winery will have two local food vendors featuring traditional Oktoberfest menus, local craft vendors scattered in the grassy area between the patios and the lake and live musical entertainment. There will be a Car Cruise on Saturday from 1-6pm and Car Show on Sunday from 1-5pm. Registration for Car Show is $5.00. There will be 50’s thru 70’s Music, 50/50, Door Prizes and Dash Plaques. Join us for a fun-filled and informative afternoon at Laurello’s as you observe the art of making jelly-just in time for holiday gift giving. In an entertaining way, guest instructor Cara Mia will demonstrate the process of turning grapes – our Concords – into delicious jelly.
The afternoon highlights will include:
- Canning equipment: what you “must own” & what you really don’t need
- Canning safety
- Making the jelly!
- Science facts: think like Alton Brown
- Problem solving: canning can & will go wrong on occasion
- Questions & discussion

“The balloons will light up at dusk (weather permitting) to put on a show. Sun sets at 7:33pm that evening. Music that night will be provided by Cosmos Cats from 6:30-10:30 pm. Our Grill will be open, serving up appetizers and sandwiches. We encourage you to bring lawn chairs and blankets as we celebrate the harvest with a Hot Air Balloon Night Glow!”

AKRON, Ohio – The Akron Zoo will host their first ever wine tasting event on Saturday, August 26 from 6:00 – 9:00 p.m. Six local wineries will be present and catered appetizers, to pair with wine, will be prepared by the Square Scullery. Attendees will receive a souvenir wine glass, free tastings, appetizers and a giveaway.
During the event guests can sample wine from different wineries including Barrel Run Crossing Winery and Vineyards, Filia Cellars, Maize Valley Winery, NautiVine Winery, Troutman Vineyards and Wolf Creek Winery.
In addition to the wine tastings, the zoo’s animal ambassadors will be showcasing their artistic skills with live painting demonstrations. Raffle tickets will be available to purchase for an opportunity to choose the paint colors and take home a painting. The zoo’s education department will also be selling animal art.
Tickets are $45 for Akron Zoo members and $50 for non-Akron Zoo members. Designated driver tickets are also available for $25 for Akron Zoo members and $30 for non-Akron Zoo members.
