Oberlin Heritage Center Offers A Robust Pairing of Wine and History

June 27, 2016 @ 7:00 pm - 8:30 pm

$15.00

The Oberlin Heritage Center will host an evening pleasing to palate, ear and mind on Monday, June 27, from 7-8:30 p.m. at Vermilion Valley Vineyards. The event is open to the public and includes a sampling of fine wines with a taste of history on the side.

Doors open at 6:30 p.m. and guests will be entertained upon arrival by the solo finger style and jazz guitar of musician Rich Holsworth. Through the evening, participants will have the opportunity to sample a “flight” of six wines as Joe Juniper, Vineyard co-owner, shares details about the wine and winery. Light hors d’oeuvres and sweets also will be served. Following the wine tasting, the Oberlin Heritage Center’s AmeriCorps/Ohio History Corps member, Mary Manning, will share a short presentation on The Great French Wine Blight of the Mid-1800s, which altered the course of the entire wine industry. Reservations are required for this special event, with a cost of $13 for OHC members and $15 for non-members. Register by June 22 either online at www.oberlinheritagecenter.org or by calling the Heritage Center at (440) 774-1700.

The Oberlin Heritage Center is accredited by the American Alliance of Museums and is widely recognized as a model small museum, historical society and historic preservation organization. It offers guided tours, history walks, educational programs for all ages, children’s summer camps, and special events both at its complex of historic sites and throughout the community, often in collaboration with other organizations.

Vermilion Valley Vineyards is a beautiful boutique vineyard in north central Ohio that produces exceptional wines. Opened in 2009, the Vineyards has a three-fold mission: to produce premium wines, to promote responsible land use and building practices and to provide a warm and inviting venue where people can gather and explore the natural wonders of a scenic rural landscape.
