Toast of Ohio Wine Heritage Festival Returns July 15, 2017

SANDUSKY, OHIO — Celebrating thirteen years, the annual Toast of Ohio Wine Heritage Festival will take place on Saturday, July 15, 2017 in downtown Sandusky, located next to the Merry-Go-Round Museum at 301 Jackson St. The festival will feature ten fabulous Ohio wineries, gourmet food, live musical entertainment, and a juried art show in neighboring Washington Park. The festival grounds are open Saturday from noon – 7 pm.

Admission is just $10.00 per person and includes a souvenir Toast of Ohio wine glass and four complimentary wine tastings. Tickets will also be available to purchase for exchange of additional wine tastings. Wine tasting tickets are $1 each and glass pours will vary by vendor.

Participating wineries include Paper Moon Vineyards, Firelands Winery, Chateau Tebeau , Humble Bee Vineyards, Matus Winery, D & D Smith Winery, Al-Bi Winery, Vermilion Valley Vineyards, Camelot Cellars, and Maize Valley.

Delicious food selections will be offered by the premier sponsor Vine & Olive Mediterranean Bakery as well as Gram’s Goodies and GessWho Tacos.

A variety of musical entertainment and family fun activities will occur throughout the day, including performances by The Brad Walk Trio from 3-7PM. The adjacent Merry-Go-Round Museum will offer special $2 admission during the festival from 10 am to 5 pm.

GERVASI VINEYARD & HALL OF FAME PARTNER ON LIMITED EDITION WINE

CANTON, OHIO – Gervasi Vineyard has teamed up with the Pro Football Hall of Fame to produce the first co-branded wine debuting the Hall’s iconic logo.  The specially labeled wine, a Limited Edition label, will make its debut on Monday, August 1 at Gervasi Vineyard.

The 2016 Limited Edition wine is a Cabernet Sauvignon, full bodied with bold layers of black currant, black cherries and notes of plum. As with all wines at Gervasi Vineyard, the wine is given a special name to fit its “personality.” For this first edition, the wine has been titled “Excellence” that ties into the Hall of Fame’s Mission to “Honor the Heroes of the Game, Preserve its History, Promote its Values & Celebrate Excellence EVERYWHERE!” and the core values learned from the Game: commitment, integrity, courage, respect and excellence.

“Partnering with the Pro Football Hall of Fame for our first co-branded label wine is incredibly exciting for us. Joining Canton’s iconic Pro Football Hall of Fame with Canton’s own Gervasi Vineyard is a perfect fit,” said Gervasi’s General Manager Scott Swaldo. “We are honored to be selected to provide the Hall with this wonderful wine aptly named ‘Excellence,’ as we both celebrate ‘Excellence’ as a core value of our organizations.”

profootball_winrThe 2016 Limited Edition Pro Football Hall of Fame wine will be available for purchase beginning August 1 and will be sold at Gervasi Vineyard, at The Marketplace and The Crush House for $38.50 per bottle (take home only). Gervasi Vineyard now features 27 wine varietals with a focus on classical European varieties and includes three premier estate-grown North American hybrids. The wine varietals range from a dry Cabernet Sauvignon, such as “Excellence,” to a sweet Vidal Blanc Ice Wine.

Winemaker, Andrew Codispoti said, “This partnership is a pinnacle experience, a celebratory juncture in our winemaking journey. It’s a champagne moment bubbling with excitement. We are energized by this chapter of our legacy.”

In celebrating “excellence” as a premier winery, Gervasi Vineyard offers wine education classes, wine tours, and exclusive pairings tours for wine enthusiasts. Complimentary tours of the winery are offered every Saturday at noon, 1:00 p.m. and 2:00 p.m. at The Crush House Wine Bar & Eatery. Tours last approximately 30 minutes; no advance registration needed. Guests are invited to taste Gervasi wines either before or after the winery tour at the tasting bar. All domestic GV wines are available for purchase to take home, including the Limited Edition “Excellence.”

The Pro Football Hall of Fame will also offer the Limited Edition “Excellence” wine to groups utilizing the Hall for special events.
